COAST-SCAPES presented at the Mar Menor technical office meeting
As preliminary actions under WP2, a work package dedicated to modelling and evaluating the resilience solutions being implemented and planned, the New Water Culture Foundation (FNCA), responsible for coordinating WP2 and the Mar Menor Core Pilot, met with the Mar Menor Technical Office (OTMM) of the Spanish Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge. The OTMM is responsible for coordinating, promoting, and managing the Framework of Priority Actions to Recover the Mar Menor (MAPMM).
The purpose of the meeting was to present the COAST-SCAPES project and learn about the progress of the models that the OTMM is developing in the Mar Menor basin and whether these will be available when WP2 begins its work.
The OTMM is developing three models in the Mar Menor basin: one for groundwater and two for surface water to model the ordinary runoff regime during intense rainfall events. They are expected to be completed between March and the summer of 2026, representing a valuable tool for completing WP2 tasks.
